While I was away I got asked what were my top 2 picks every month, it was an easy answer I replied “Batman and Nightwing hands down!”. Till this day I have never answered a question so fast in my life. I was in fanboy heaven this week as my two favorite books tied into one another like Peanut butter and jelly (though I have never had that combo yet as I’m and aussie lol).

This issue of Nightwing concludes the first major story arc for writer Kyle Higgins who is rising up to become a fan favorite on this title. As soon as we open this book up we return to where we were left hanging on our seats as Nightwing continues to face off with Saiko as Haly’s circus continues to burn around them. This is a full jammed pack issue full of action and mystery, on a personal level I really loved the panel layouts and the art. For some reason though I was reminded of the old Batman TAS (come they were awesome cartoons) while I read this issue. Kyle definitely knows what the fans want and respects the characters he is working on as he delivers week after week with good stories.

It is also in this issue that we see the Court of Owls pop up as we discover that Dick has a bit of mystery to his past (but I won’t ruin the surprise for you). All I can say that Snyder and Higgins have a great relationship and that their cross over “Night of the Owls” will not dissapoint!

Final Grade: A+
